This section is to give you an insight into life as a Moorside Pupil.
For example, at Moorside, we ensure all children have a voice through our School Council, known as our Pupil Governors. The children see the democratic process in action by by holding class elections to choose their respresentatives. Our Pupil Governors then attend regular meetings; help to support local charities;; respresent the school at important events and suggest ways to improve their school. In addition to this, we have an Eco-Council who come together to suggest new ideas and ways to ensure our school is kind to its environment.
We have numerous reading initiatives, from our Reading Buddies, Reading Council and Reading Champions as well as our Story Telling Project, where our children visit the local church and read their favourite books with the eldery parish, learning about their history and what it was like for their generation as a child.
We hold regular trips to support our children's learning and have yearly residentials teaching our pupils skills in areas that they are not necessarily familiar with as part of their day to day lives and learning. As well as this we welcome visitors to the school, to hold roadshows and workshops with our children, such as writers who specialise in Poetry, Science Fiction Books and Creative Writing, Punctuation Roadshows and even visits from the Dogs Trust.
